Paris Fashion Week Fall 2010 - Runway Roundup

 

It was an arctic wonderland at the Chanel show, where chunks of ice set the stage for models to splash through in fur-clad boots. Karl filled the runway with loads of fur, transforming models into real life polar bears. Fur was a running trend at Fashion Week, but Lagerfeld opted for faux-fur, however. The classic tweed jacket was revamped and fur-fringed dresses embroidered in ice jewelry made a notable appearance.

 Designers Victor & Rolf are deemed the performance artists of the fashion world. While debuting their latest collection dubbed "Glamour Factory", the designers artfully undressed the models to unveil their layered garments. The collection was a spectacle to say the least and featured over-the-top fur coats, a crystal studded zip-up skirt and dresses with the boldest shoulders possible.

Pre-Fall fashion collection 2010 of Miu Miu at Paris fashion show:  If you didn’t already know that Miuccia Prada thinks of Miu Miu as an expression of her inner girl, you’d probably be able to guess it from the label’s pre-fall collection. With its narrow-shouldered plaid jackets, tiny little matching skirts, and girly knee-high knit socks, it had a sincere feel for the nymphet dolly birds who populated long-forgotten pop flicks like Joanna and The Touchables back when Prada was in her teens. It wasn’t only the abbreviated proportions of the tops and skirts—or their school uniform-y correctness—where the sixties made their presence felt. Pants were narrow-cut, flared, and cuffed—very Miss London. And the wool used is apparently, in Italy at least, irrevocably associated with that decade. But nothing is ever so literal in Pradaworld.

To anyone who couldn’t care less what girls wore Back Then, the re-proportioned duffel/parka hybrids were an adorable now-ish take on outerwear. Anyway, mixing time and place is a Prada specialty, and it was more forties glam than sixties pop that insinuated itself into the collection’s use of fur (as tippetlike collars or as the sleeves on a jacket) or into the leopard-printed sheepskin jacket.

Paris Fashion Week Spring Summer 2010

Since everyone  knows what happened  during PFW SS 2010 ,i decided to post some pictures ; from some of the shows i loved  during PFW . ( Next season which is FW 2010 2011 i will inform you about everything from NYFW to PFW  )lets start with my favorite one, Alexander Mc Queen the king of visual illusions &  tailoring  (I'm in love with him) this time he  based his ss 2010 collection on the mystery of Plato's Atlantis theory , in other words" The lost world underwater " his wonderful idea of people that die  in the Atlantis and came back to life out of the ocean  in form of aliens was AMAZING,  the visual art that he made on the photo prints on the clothing representing jellyfishes,  ocean floor and other creatures was absolutely creative and stunning. 

Besides I was so lucky I watched  the show live ( with some problems ) on his website but most of the people couldn't  watch the stream live because there was some technical & demand issues on the website  that made the website crash ,anyway he apologized to all his fans via twitter  at  the exact moment when  the show started in Paris....kudos for Alexand.

John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Karl Lagerfeld are designers who present their shows monumentally, with chic and splendor. Of course they cost lots of money and take many efforts but they definitely become memorable. Don’t you remember McQueen’s monster show? Or last season’s Chanel show with all that straw and playful activities? Yes, you do! And you will remember the Autumn/ Winter 2010/ 2011 show, too. Why? Because I bet you have never seen so much ice and water in Grand Palais.

PFW: Vivienne Westwood Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011

Dame Westwood wouldn’t be she if she created something that was ordinary. She is always very extravagant and her works make us feel surprised every season.

For Paris Fashion week the designer focused on the bluestocking young lady and footpad theme. Extremely colorful and unusual outfits were modelled on the show with girls sometimes looking funny and playful and in other times strict and even threatening.

Although garments seemed to have been made from old fabrics and worn-earlier clothes we know that each piece was actually the result of Westwood’s creation, an elaborate piece that costs lots of money. Plenty of knee-length dresses looked pretty and eccentric but some were definitely wearable. There were lots of prints of any kind, from flowers to stars and even crowns. By the way, some models wore crowns on their heads – flamboyant and huge, adding an ironic touch to the collection.

PFW: Christian Dior Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011

The new collection for Autumn/ Winter 2010/ 2011 by Christian Dior unveiled during Paris Fashion Week was all about femininity and luxury. Airy fabrics and flowing designs looked very womanly, while chic fur and leather details added to the glamour of the line.

Sheer materials couldn’t hide beautiful lingerie underneath. And some underwear pieces were even worn as outwear, this makes us believe John Galliano suggetss wearing this trend for one more season. Sumptuous leather coats looked great. I liked the colors of those very much: saturated burgundy, brown, orange – together with trendy thigh-high boots they looked fabulous.



Accessories this season were nice, expecially classy hats that made the girls look very elegant and sophisticated. Bag range was huge: from big and roomy totes to tiny beautiful clutches. Generally speaking I loved the collection. The only thing that didn’t attract me were the stokings with frills.

PFW: Nina Ricci Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011

This season Nina Ricci collecton was fully and officially created by Peter Copping, ex-right-hand man of Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton. And to tell you the truth, I do like the pieces a lot. They are very cute, very womanly. Flower motif was obviously dominant and it was good. First of all because flowers are all about femininity and secondly, because flowers in various forms are a hot trend for Autumn/ Winter 2010/ 2011.

The range was quite different from usual Nina Ricci collections and it means Copping took the plunge to go his own way, apart from Theyskens’ influence. No more high-drama dark Belgian romance is expected then.

Pretty, just below knee-length satin slipdresses, chic little black dresses, lacy tops and skrts of elaborated designs were all the new hot things for the brand. No pants were in the line and it seems none of those would really fit into the cloud of feminine luxury.

Gloves went above the elbows, belts embraced the models’ waists and perfect classy shoes finished the glamourous picture. Some fur was used but it was good and beautiful.

PFW: Lanvin Spring/Summer 2010

Lanvin Spring/Summer 2010 collection is super-chic and super-innovative. Alber Elbaz was able to surprise us again.The collection was presented at Paris Fashion week and includes lots of fabulous dresses, with frills and flounces, coming in black, red and pink colors. Luxury but simple designs were soon substituted with sumptuous drapery and layers.

PFW: Valentino Spring-Summer 2010

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli created a fabulous collection for Spring-Summer 2010 which was presented during the Paris Fashion Week.

The designer duo decided it was time to give the brand a new image and what we saw in the result was far different from the collection showcased last season.While creating the line designers had a new Valentino generation in mind – the one that loves party dresses and feels right wearing a sheer trend.
